FAQ

How do I interpret my IQ score?

Deviation IQ is a relative score scaled to a mean of 100 and standard deviation of 15. About 68% of people fall between 85 and 115 (the average range); above 115 is roughly the top 16%, and above 130 the top 2%. It describes your position within a peer group, not a fixed level of ability.

Is an online IQ test the same as a clinical intelligence test?

No. Formal tests like the Wechsler scales (WAIS/WISC) are administered one-on-one by a trained examiner over one to two hours with standardized norms. This is a free self-check that samples the same cognitive domains briefly, so treat it as an estimate for reference — not a diagnosis or a basis for academic or employment decisions.

What does it mean if my five domain scores differ a lot?

Uneven cognitive profiles are actually common. If verbal and numerical scores are high but processing speed lags, timed tasks and sustained attention may cost you more than knowledge does. Looking at the spread between domains, rather than the total alone, helps you adapt how you study or work.

How often should I retake an IQ test?

Repeating the same items too often inflates scores through practice effects. Leave at least three to six months between attempts and test under similar conditions, avoiding sleep deprivation, alcohol, or exhaustion. When tracking change, look at the average and direction across several sessions rather than any single score.
