What is the ASRS adult ADHD self-test?
It is the WHO's Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale: 18 items answered while recalling the past six months. The first six items (Part A) form the core screener, and the remaining 12 add detail. It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis.
How do I interpret my ASRS score?
If four or more of the six Part A items exceed their cutoff, the result suggests ADHD symptoms worth exploring further. The 12 Part B items show whether inattention or hyperactivity/impulsivity stands out more. Read the pattern across domains, not just the total.
Should I see a doctor if my score is high?
A high score does not by itself mean ADHD. If the difficulties began in childhood and now affect two or more areas such as work, study, or relationships, a psychiatric consultation is worthwhile. Sleep loss, depression, anxiety, and thyroid problems can look similar and need to be ruled out.
How often should I retake this test?
ADHD traits do not shift day to day, so every four to eight weeks is enough. If you are adjusting medication, therapy, or daily routines, logging it monthly makes trends easier to see. Testing too often lets daily mood and fatigue distort the picture.
