FAQ

How do I interpret my GAD-7 score?

Out of 0-21, scores of 5, 10 and 15 mark mild, moderate and severe anxiety. A score of 10 or more is widely used as a signal to look further into generalized anxiety, but the number itself is a screening result, not a diagnosis.

At what score should I see a doctor?

There is no fixed line, but if you stay at 10 or above for more than two weeks, or if sleep, work or relationships are clearly suffering, it is worth talking to a mental health professional. A low score with high distress is also a good reason to seek help.

How often should I retake this anxiety test?

GAD-7 asks about the past two weeks, so every two weeks is a natural rhythm. If you are in treatment or making lifestyle changes, logging it every 2-4 weeks shows the trend well; daily retesting tends to make you fixate on small swings.

Should I also take the depression test (PHQ-9)?

Anxiety and depression often travel together, so pairing GAD-7 with PHQ-9 gives a clearer picture. Both take only a few minutes, and seeing the two scores side by side makes it easier to tell which burden is heavier right now.
